Series Production of Sheet Metal Parts
Series production of sheet metal parts makes it possible to manufacture a large number of identical components with precise dimensions and consistent quality. This approach is used for the production of enclosures, panels, covers, brackets, mounting plates, supports, machine components and parts for various industrial systems. To achieve a reliable result, the entire process must be planned before the first component is manufactured.
Preparation begins with an analysis of the technical drawing, the selection of the material and the definition of the correct sequence of operations. Depending on the product, the process may combine metal laser cutting, drilling, bending, welding and surface finishing. When each operation is coordinated with the next one, production delays and the need for additional corrections are reduced.
The First Component Determines the Quality of the Entire Series
Before series production begins, a prototype component is usually manufactured. It is used to verify the dimensions, hole positions, bending radii and compatibility with the other components. When the product forms part of a larger structure, a preliminary assembly may also be carried out.
Once the prototype has been approved, the production parameters are saved and used throughout the entire series. This provides reliable repeatability and minimises differences between individual components. Inspecting the first product is particularly important because even a small deviation may be repeated across every manufactured part.
Optimised Layout Reduces Material Waste
In series production, the correct arrangement of the components on the metal sheet has a direct effect on the production cost. The shapes must be positioned so that the available surface area is used as efficiently as possible without compromising the required distances between the contours.
An appropriate cutting layout reduces the amount of leftover material and the processing time. When one order contains products with different dimensions, the parts can be combined on the same sheet. This enables better material utilisation and more efficient production organisation.
Repeatability Depends on Quality Control at Every Stage
Consistent quality is not guaranteed by machinery alone. Material inspection, dimensional control after cutting and monitoring the accuracy of CNC sheet metal bending are also required. For welded products, the position of the components, possible deformation and the quality of the joints must be carefully checked.
At AVA Engineering 2018 Ltd., we provide series manufacturing of metal products from steel, stainless steel and aluminium. We work according to drawings, samples or individual projects and organise production based on the required quantity and subsequent processing.
